Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Continuing Education Course Recap

I love going to a continuing education course that I'm SUPER EXCITED about!!

So I'm ecstatic to share that I recently went to a con-ed course by Brianna Battles through Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism. She is a leading expert in women's health and fitness, so she was definitely someone I was eager to learn from.

I traveled from Central Oregon to Boise, Idaho for 2 full days of education talking about vaginas, peeing, prolapse, and diastasis recti (to just name a few). I was surrounded by women who are also Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Certified. Some of them were fellow PTs, personal trainers, gym owners, CrossFit coaches and/or owners, as well as Strength & Conditioning coaches. It was a great mix of minds that were all there for the same purpose - improving pelvic health with fitness.

We reviewed the female pelvic floor, including pelvic organ prolapse (pelvic heaviness or bulging) and diastasis recti (abdominal wall separation common after pregnancy).

We discussed how exercise can increase some of the symptoms of POP, urinary leakage, and diastasis recti. We practiced deadlifts, hang cleans, running, toes to bar, jump rope (double-unders and single-unders), and pull-ups to see how these exercises affect the pelvic floor. Using the skills we've learned in our previous certification course and what we were learning in this course, we problem solved exercise modifications in order to improve each individuals form, decrease abdominal pressure into the pelvic floor, and help improve symptoms of POP, urinary leakage, and diastasis recti. It was great collaboration from all of the professionals who are passionate about women's health and women's fitness!

The second day, was all about business and professional growth. It was amazing to be with so many like-minded people who are at different stages of their professional careers. We had great discussions about how to continue to offer amazing services to our clients and how to continue to grow our businesses.

I'm extremely excited about what I have planned for my business for the next year and I hope you are too! So stay tuned for more great information.
